
Winter ice is sometimes preserved during the summer in the deeper, more cavernous places where cold air is trapped. Early homesteaders went there to hold picnics and make ice cream, using ice they found in the caves of the chasm.
In an attempt to reach a broader base of family and friends who might be interested in our journeys, we decided to use the Internet. It seemed more logical to inform folks that they could choose to read about our adventures by going online, instead of e-mailing numerous people with embedded images.
